Situation
Bassmania is a multi-genre bass festival rotating between Münster and Dortmund, built around four or five dedicated floors - psytrance, progressive, drum & bass, hardcore, and a main hard-techno stage at the Fusion Club. Each edition programmes dozens of acts, and the audience is genuinely cross-genre: someone who buys a Halloween edition ticket might come for the drum & bass floor or for the psy main stage.
Challenge
A festival with five genre floors has five different marketing problems. Running a single creative that says “big bass festival” dilutes the message for every sub-audience. Running five separate manually-built campaigns per edition eats the entire marketing team’s week. Bassmania needed a way to address each floor’s audience natively without the operational cost.
Solution with Future Demand
Every Bassmania edition flows into Future Demand automatically. Taste Cluster technology separates the bass-music audience into the specific sub-clusters that match each floor - psytrance heads behave differently from hard-techno ravers - and ad variants are generated, tested and optimised automatically. The operational lift per edition drops to minutes.
Results
Across ten editions in 12 months, Bassmania sold 2,624 tickets while keeping media spend proportional to the scale of each edition. The same programmatic approach scaled cleanly from the Halloween date in Dortmund to the main Münster festival weekend, and each floor saw its own audience served with creative built for that specific community rather than a shared, diluted message.
Conclusion
Bassmania is a reference point for multi-stage festival marketing: when your audience is several sub-communities under one roof, you need audience intelligence that can talk to each of them in their own language. Future Demand’s Taste Cluster layer makes that possible without adding headcount.
